Psalm 133:1-3
“How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity!
2 It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard, running down on Aaron’s beard, down upon the collar of his robes. 3 It is as if the dew of Hermon were falling on Mount Zion. For there the Lord bestows his blessing, even life forevermore.”
The goodness and ripple effects of unity cannot be overemphasized. If a home is progressing, there is unity there. If a Church is growing, there is unity there. If a community is peaceful check for unity pulse in the area. If a nation is succeeding, there must be unity among the citizens. The psalmist used the imagery of oil pouring on the head and running down beard and collar of Aaron’s robe to describe how soothing and how refreshing unity is.Unity means life while death brings decay. The separation line is the dew from God. Unity among God’s people makes the Holy Spirit rejoices but He is grieved by sins that brings division. The images of dew and oil imply that unity can only be sent down by God, man cannot “work it up.”How much we need the refreshing by the Holy Spirit. The more the Church work in unity, the more the Holy Spirit’s power we shall enjoy. Without Unity in the body of Christ, there can be no power to face the attack of the enemy and be conquerors. If there is any time the Church in Nigeria must be united, it is NOW.
