The Scripture says “to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up” (Eph 4:12-13). The varying gifts God endowed the church with are for the building up of the body.
In like manner, the challenge of reproducing labourers and leaders in the church is an ongoing phenomenon. I have observed reproducing many pastors; however, there are many other functions that require intentional mentoring for further reproduction in church service. Logically, Pastors reproduce Pastors, Evangelists reproduce Evangelists; Teachers reproduce Teachers, Apostles reproduce Apostles; and Prophets reproduce Prophets.
The phenomenon of reproduction implies impact of older leaders who may be the Parents, facilitators, Pastors or the Youth Leaders on the emerging young ones in mentoring them for service now and in the future. With many youth programmes going on, there are not yet enough well equipped workers and leaders. The Scripture verse which says “Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field” (Matt 9:38 Matt 9:38) was and is still relevant today. This passage calls for the need to seek means of equipping and preparing the labourers by proactive means in addition to prayers.
