nations be glad

May the nations be glad and sing for joy, for you rule the peoples justly and guide the nations of the earth. May the peoples praise you, O God; let all the peoples praise you. 6 Then the land will yield its harvest, and God, our God, will bless us. 7 God will bless us, and all the ends of the earth will fear him (Ps 67:4-7NIV)

As at now, many nations of the earth are in great mourning and anguish because of war, Famine, injustice, terrorism, kidnapping, assassination and many other vices. Nigeria is not left out; my own nation. We are all witnesses to the escalation of this evil in the past 5-10 years in particular. The economic recession worsens the situation whereby many families found it difficult to make ends meet. People do not find justice in the community or at the courts of law. Robbery, cheating, tribalism and various forms of mal-practices are draining the people of strength. Poverty keeps growings in leaps and bond in the society.

The above scenario is not a new. The word of God says in Romans 8:20-21 “For the creation was subjected to frustration…, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God.”
All the oppressed and those enslaved were seeking a release from their holds. We all need freedom. This is the reason why the creations waited and are still waiting in eager expectation for the revealing of the sons of God. Only sons of God are capable to release the captives. Are you one of these sons? Then wake out of your sleep! We need to stop indulging in self-pity. Rather, we should take our place in God. Then we will become a place of refuge for those who needed to be delivered from poverty, sickness, and oppression.

To establish the kingdom of God now in the lives of the people implies building the self-esteem, they need to attain, spiritual, economic, physical, financi

al, emotional, and educational freedom. The attainment of the above by the youth, young adults and families, would result in praises to God. As peoples praise God, he blesses them with bountiful harvests. God deserves to be praised by the peoples because He rules justly. When people receive God’s blessings in their lives they are encouraged to fear and worship Him. It is written God’s goodness draw men to repentance. Many contemporary societies are rejecting the rule of God. They want to use God but not to serve Him. Wherever God is rejected, chaos will reign and gladness will elude that society and the people in it.

What Then?

Nations who embrace and acknowledge God will find every reason to be glad. The nations besieged with war and problems will not be glad. Rather, there will be bitterness, oppression and many other vices. May our nation, his people and the nations of the world embrace the God who brings joy and gladness.
